RDNA 3 came out fighting the big dog of RTX 4000. With improvements over the previous generation and a chance to take on its competitor, so is the RX 7900 XTX any good?
The graphics card came alongside the RX 7900. Both led to the new generation of AMD Radeon cards. And only these cards came, leaving out the lower-end, cheaper options.
So with that, we look at what the card has to offer.
ASUS TUF RX 7900 XTX specs

1,895 MHz base, 2,395 MHz shader & game, 2,565 MHz boost
Advantages
- Great cooling solution that improves thermals and fan curves over reference
- Enhanced power management from an experienced brand
- High quality built and overclocked for top performance
cons
- A slightly more expensive option due to the better performance and quality
The quad-slot GPU is an overclocked version, boosting performance over the rest of the selection. It improves all clock speeds by 2-6%.
While also requiring an additional 8-pin power connector. And change the outputs to remove the USB-C for another DisplayPort.
While also changing the design of the card to a custom cooling solution. Focused on improving what the 7900 XTX can achieve.

We can see that the RX 7900 XTX is a perfectly capable card from 1080p to 4k. Although sometimes it may be necessary to reject from the highest level.
While ray tracing performance has improved this generation, it still lags behind. Lowering the graphics to that level, or in some titles, still makes it a playable and good use of the map.
But relatively speaking, it is still the weaker part. However, it does have the advantage that RSR allows for upscaling and performance improvements in every title. Unlike DLSS limited to its implementations.
RX 7900 XTX synthetic performance

The card is powerful enough. And in 3DMarks’ rankings, it comes second, behind the RTX 4090. So it’s a much cheaper option when it comes to choosing a good GPU.
Is the RX 7900 XTX any good?
So overall the RX 7900 XTX is a good graphics card. As a cheaper alternative to the competition, it offers better value for money. It also offers a more economical solution to the other options.
While the ASUS TUF is a great choice for a custom model. Because it offers better performance than the competition. Along with a great build quality and cooling solution to keep it running in the long run.
