With its new downtown development and opportunities for “waterfront fun,” Tampa has caught the attention of travelers — and Time magazine.
The magazine on Thursday named the bay’s largest city on its list of the world’s best places for 2023.
The big draw is Water Street Tampa and the high-end hotels and restaurants it offers, according to Time. The $3.5 billion development has spawned a long line of new eateries in the area, the most recent of which is The Pearl, a nautical-themed gastropub.
Waterfront attractions such as Sparkman Wharf, Armature Works and the Riverwalk have also helped Tampa make a name for itself as a travel destination, the list says.
Tampa is one of six mainland U.S. locations on the Time list. Others include: Yosemite National Park, California; Willamette Valley, Oregon; Bozeman, Montana; Tucson, Arizona; and Washington, DC
What else makes Tampa worth a visit? Beaches just a short drive away and non-stop flights in and out of the city, writes Time.
